Mistake #6: Making builds too complex

New builders often get carried away when building Walk-thrus.

They start accounting for every twist and turn of the application.  Every error message.

They think their Walk-Thrus need to be able to respond to anything that happens and navigate the user from anything that happens back to the exact correct point in the applications.

Here’s the process I recommend:

Avoid making more work for yourself.

  • Any step you put in a Walkthru is either something an end user will have to perform or something that WalkMe will have to execute.
  • Abstract any repeated navigation steps into their own walk-thrus.
  • Minimize jQuery.  Ensure Deep UI is enabled and take advantage of the WalkMe Assistant.
  • Monitor Insights to see how far your users are getting through processes.
  • Set and enforce a maximum number of steps for end users per Walk-thru.
  • Have Launchers midway through a process to allow a user to pick back up.
  • Finally, keep in mind that any content you build is going to have to be maintained!

Keep these things in mind and your future self will thank you.
